BOUWE BROUWER - HARDCORE VIBES
BOOK · CP057 · 2025
"Hardcore Vibes" is the second book we are publishing in collaboration with street photographer Bouwe Brouwer. Through 66 photographs, Bouwe takes you along three editions of a Hardcore festival held in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. The book offers a unique and personal perspective through the eyes of the photographer on a subculture that emerged in the Netherlands during the 1990s and still maintains a strong presence today.
Bouwe Brouwer has a diverse range of talents and interests and is currently living in Sneek, the Netherlands. He studied fine arts and was trained as an illustrator. From 2008 he gained recognition as an internationally published writer of haiku and short stories. Bouwe started photographing in 2013, focusing on capturing everyday life’s beauty and complexity. He is a member of the International (street) photography collective UP, where he collaborates with other talented photographers. Bouwe’s multidisciplinary approach reflects his passion for art, writing, and photography.
The book features a text about The Beginning of the Rave Revolution in Friesland, written by da Mouth of Madness, the iconic Voice of Hardcore. In the early ’90s, he and DJ Uzi helped shape the scene through legendary performances at Thunderdome and beyond.
The project is supported by the Popfabryk, with whom we will later this year collaborate to organize an exhibition.
