ANDRE HZS - INSULA FLE

In collaboration with visual artist Martinus Papilaja (Andre HZS), we organized a three-day residency on the Dutch Wadden Island of Vlieland.

On the first day, Martinus drew inspiration. After the one and a half hour trip by ferry, we immediately went on a tour of the island to show all the peculiarities. In the end, he created 3 paintings on the island to be exhibited at the Creative Workshop (Creatieve Werkplaats).

The three paintings are a manifestation of their creator's inspiration and observations on the island, where they gained insights into the local way of life. This experience evoked memories of being in a Moluccan 'Kampong' (village), where everyone knows each other and readily extends help and support to one another.

The fusion of lines and different forms give a good impression if you take a quick look at the work of Andre HZS. If you look further, you see the motivation, discipline and performance-oriented approach that he inherited from his Dutch-Moluccan background.

The combination of these familiar aspects with HZS‘s brainwaves and a mix of creative techniques and style makes his work diverse and dynamic.
